ANGOLA, Ind. (WLKI)- The Angola Board of Zoning Appeals met Monday and heard two requests for development standard variances.

The first request sought to reduce the city's minimum square-footage requirement for an accessory dwelling unit. The request, identified as 2026-BZA-10001, was submitted by Jeff Welch on behalf of property owner Irene Taylor.

An accessory dwelling unit is a separate or secondary residential space located on the same property as a primary home. The request asked the board to allow an exception to the minimum size requirement.

The board also heard a second request, identified as 2026-BZA-10002, from applicant Matt Graber. The request sought a development standard variance that would allow a home to be built behind an existing pole barn.

Both matters were listed under new business during the Oct. 26 meeting at Angola City Hall.

The Board of Zoning Appeals is next scheduled to meet Nov. 23 at 5 p.m.
