ST. JOE, Ind. (WLKI)- A Defiance, Ohio, man suffered minor injuries Friday morning after a dump truck left State Road 8 and rolled into a cornfield near St. Joe.
The crash happened around 8:45 a.m. in the 8000 block of State Road 8, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators said 35-year-old Brock Middleton was driving east when his 2026 International dump truck went off the south shoulder of the roadway. Deputies said Middleton attempted to steer the truck back onto the road but lost control.
The truck then crossed to the north side of State Road 8, struck a ditch line and rolled into a nearby cornfield.
Middleton was taken to a local hospital with a minor head injury, along with cuts and scrapes to his arms. The dump truck was totaled.
State Road 8 was closed for an extended period while crews worked at the scene and removed the damaged truck. The roadway has since reopened.
